Back from a holiday break!

Just wanted to let you all know that I am now back from a little holiday break. I was away for about 2 weeks, and in that time 686 comment spams somehow made it though my filters :\

Strangely eneough, most of the comments were total giberish, came from a wide selection of IPs and didn't even contain any URLs. Not sure why they were posted seems to me that it was a denial of service attempt, though I'm not sure why my site was targeted.

Anyways, i'm back.. the garbage has been taken out and things will be getting back to normal.

Yep those bastards hit me too but I had MT Approval installed which smacked them away from my installation before the comment hit the DB, however using the logs I saw that they had hit.

I thought the new version of MT was supposed to be able to stop that from happening.

Anyway, I also wanted to tell you I used one of your templettes (I can't remember which one, but since I altered it so much it doesn't really matter) for my wife's new blog at http://LindaCarlton.net. The background is an image I got off a blog and tweaked the colors. It's really handy for that since it's intricate, nice looking, and only two colors, so can be latered quickly far almost any color scheme. If you want to check out the alterations let me know where to send it (or I guess you could just grab it from http://LindaCarlton.net/thoughts/styles-site.css ) I did make a few changes in the index.html template as well, but not many.

I'm still trying to figure out how to lock it at 700 pixels so the layout is static, but with the sections (content, links, etc.) plced via css I'm stumped.

Follow up: I accidentally deleted the template and had to reconstruct it from scratch. I'd forgotten where I got the original. (I'd slept since then) and simply used the MT default template. Turns out it just needed a litle tweaking to work with my design. Since then I put together a new one for myself at http://DannyCarlton.org.

Hi Tim, there are always plans for new styles. Just not enough time in the day to complete them :)

I'll try and get something new up sooner rather then later though.

You are a pretty hard fellow to get ahold of. I'm using one of your styles on my blog so I put a link back to your site and wanted to notify you.

I've also created a flash animated button if you want to use it to advetise. you can find it on my site and just let me know if you want the source to it...it was created with SwishMax.

Hello there. I've come to your blog a couple of times in the past and quite like your designs. I have a question: how do I make myself a smaller drop box than the one on my site for the category archives (please take a look). I couldn't help but notice that you have cute drop boxes with teeny a teeny font size in it. I'd love it if you could leave me a comment or drop me a line explaining how.

    Many thanks!

    Hi Jummy,

I had a look at your page and notice your problem with the category dropdown box. One way to fix this would be to shorten your category names. That is normally not an option so you can always style the select forms via CSS and decrease the font size. Something like the following would help:

    select { font-family: Arial, Helvetica; font-size: 10pt; }

Just drop that in your css file and see if it helps you out.

    Hi:

Sorry of this post is not in line with guidelines, but I could not locate an address to email you...

In any case, I was wondering if there was any way you could possibly take time to translate the 2.x "Boxed" stylesheet for use on a 3.x site. I will of course be glad to place a permanent "Styled by Movablestyle" link/button permanently on my home page and would also consider a donation if that would help.

I don't mean to be lazy, it is just that I am excited to get started with entries but don't want to break a brand new installation of MT on my first ever blog site by screwing the thing up right out of the box so to speak.

Also, I know there is at least 1 tutorial out there for converting 2.x styles to 3.x styles, but that seems like somewhat of a hack for something as nice as boxed, and again, I don't want to break this great new thing before I even get to play with it for at least a little while.

Thanks very much for your consideration.

    Sincerely,
    Mark Schambach

Sorry, I have not even set up the email for my new domain so I am giving you my address for my other domain.

If this post is an intrusion, please accept my apologies and do drop me a quick line so I will know not to bother you again.

Thought maybe I should come back and update my contact info and my url now that I have moved things to the root (correct term?) url. I am using one of your styles with attribution in the powered by div. I can't believe that in one day I have learned so much that I am just dangerous enough to be speaking in terms of a div (probably butchering the use of this term :)
Thanks for the easy to implement styles. I would still prefer a 3.x "boxed" style and will stop by periodically to see if it is translated over.
You can see my first day of work (remember, I am only brand new at this) at: http://www.homeschoolpedia.com

    Thanks Again,

Hi. I think you have a very nice site. I am new to movable type and was wondering if you know of any other sites that have good style sheets? Thank you in advance for your help. btw, sorry I am posting this here, as your contact section is not up -- if you need a good and easy contact form I can hook you up.

This site is becoming less of a resource for new MT stylesheets and more an archive of some older useful ones.

Is it worth our time to continuously recheck this page? Are ANY updates on the horizon?
